MySQL management plugin for EM 12c has been long overdue. I’ve initially migrated the older plugin to EM 12c about 6 months ago, and few dozen people received this as the initial beta of the plugin. It worked OK but didn’t use any of the new 12c features, and its home page was a bit of a mess in the EM 12c Cloud Control web interface.

I’ve had lots of new features to add, but I didn’t really have much time to invest into completing them all. Finally, I decided to just finish the home page dashboard and clean it up from all unfinished new features. I did, however, finish MySQL Slave configuration and status monitoring, which was the largest gap in the the functionality of the previous plugin. There is no custom UI for MySQL slave management yet (that’s coming), but monitoring is available as standard metrics and configuration management …

The 6.6 has reached Beta level major features are Stored routine debugger, Entity Framework 4.3 Migrations support, Authentication Plugin & Visual Studio 2012 support.

We finally got the MySQL Connector/Python repositories reorganised on Launchpad. The following changes have been made:

• Old, unmaintained repositories have been marked as obsolete.
• Downloadable source distributions of obsolete versions have been removed, use the MySQL download website.
• Connector/Python v1.0 source has been uploaded to Launchpad up till v1.0.5b1.
• URLs point to the MySQL website.
• Maintainer is now ‘Oracle/MySQL Engineering’, the team I (Geert Vanderkelen) am part of.

I pledged, in my first post last month, that SkySQL will do its part to promote the best of MySQL and its community. Given the recent discovery that Oracle is no longer publishing test cases for bug fixes, and the dialogue surrounding it, it feels like the right time to share my thoughts on what this means to the open source collective, and what we can do – and are doing – about it.
