I was looking for some info on liveblogging art this am because I never did a similar activity and was wondering if I am able to do it in the next confs I’m gonna taking.

Liveblogging means taking notes about a conference session you are listening and share the main concepts of the talk with people who are not present in the room.

End October - time for the traditional meeting of the German and International "PHP family" - end of October? - Yes, the International PHP Conference is a bit earlier this year. Additonally the organizers moved the conference away from the industrial area of Mörfelden to the center of Mainz which sounds quite promising. Although I'll spend only around 24hrs at Mainz I'm looking really forward to the conference next week.

On Thursday morning I'll give a presentation about PHP 5.3, which will be quite interesting as one of the biggest features, namespaces, is still undergoing heavy discussions and the final syntax probably won't be clear when presenting - fortunately PHP 5.3 is much more than namespaces!

I am starting a trip of two days to Munich to attend tomorrow, October 21st 2008, the MySQL™ Central EU Customer Conference.

And.. sure! I am still wondering why I am coming stated that I don’t understand German :-/
I thought that the Conference was in English or at least part of it but.. eh eh eh.. it seems it isn’t.

Two things deceived me. The name “Central Europe” and the possibility to come with some friends which are used to go in Germany in this period to drink liters of beer.

Possibility no. two vanished cause one of them went away to U.S. for a short period @ Standford University and the others are very busy during this week.

Brian Aker delivers the keynote speech at OpenSQL Camp: State of the Open Source Databases.

The presentation begins with:
"There is no way I'm going to tell you exactly where the future of databases go. We have way too many egos in the room to ever even begin a discussion..."

and ends with Aker saying,

My summary: open source databases are already ubiquitous, we need to make them better/faster/consume fewer resources.

As I was already up since yesterday 0500 , it was dinner with Sven , Robin and some other conference visitors at a Turkish Buffet place , after which we headed to what seemed to be a great bar where they failed to serve us while waiting for over 10 minutes, so we moved on to another place. and then to be "early"
