Webinar 3/18: Optimize and Troubleshoot MySQL Using Percona Monitoring and Management

As a MySQL DBA, the databases powering your applications need to handle changing traffic workloads while remaining responsive and stable so you can deliver an excellent user experience. Optimizing MySQL performance and troubleshooting MySQL problems cost-efficiently are some of the most critical and challenging tasks for MySQL DBAs. In this presentation, we will look at specific, common MySQL problems and demonstrate how Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), built on free and open-source software, enables you to solve these challenges.

Please join Percona CEO Peter Zaitsev on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at 1:30 pm EDT for his webinar “Optimize and Troubleshoot MySQL Using Percona Monitoring and Management”.

Webinar 2/26: Building a Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster

This talk covers some of the challenges we sought to address by creating a Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster, as well as a look into the current state of the Operator, a brief demonstration of its capabilities, and a preview of the roadmap for the remainder of the year. Find out how you can deploy a 3-node PXC cluster in under five minutes and handle providing self-service databases on the cloud in a cloud-vendor agnostic way. You’ll have the opportunity to ask the Product Manager questions and provide feedback on what challenges you’d like us to solve in the Kubernetes landscape.

Please join Percona Product Manager Tyler Duzan on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at 1 pm EST for his webinar “Building a Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster”.

Q & A on Webinar “Introduction to MySQL Query Tuning for DevOps”

First I want to thank everyone who attended my December 5, 2019 webinar “Introduction to MySQL Query Tuning for DevOps“. Recording and slides are available on the webinar page.

Here are answers to the questions from participants which I was not able to provide during the webinar.

Q: How to find stored execution plans and optimizer metadata stored in mysql data dictionary (i.e. PS, IS, sys schema)?

A: The Optimizer creates the query execution plan each time when MySQL Server executes the query. These plans are never stored.

However, some information, used by the optimizer, to create the execution plan, is stored and available. It includes.

Webinar 12/19: Top 3 Features of MySQL

MySQL has been ranked as the second most popular database since 2012 according to DB-Engines. Three features help it retain its top position: replication, storage engines, and NoSQL support. During this webinar, we’ll discuss the MySQL architecture surrounding these features and how to utilize their full power when your application hits performance or design limits.

This webinar is geared towards new MySQL users as well as those with other database administration experience. However, it’s also useful for experienced users looking to refresh their knowledge.

Please join Sveta Smirnova on Thurs, Dec 19, 10 to 11 am PST.

Webinar 12/5: Introduction to MySQL Query Tuning for DevOps

MySQL does its best to return requested bytes as fast as possible. However, it needs human help to identify what is important and should be accessed in the first place. Queries, written smartly, can significantly outperform automatically generated ones. Indexes and Optimizer statistics, not limited to the Histograms only, help increase the speed of the query.

Join Percona’s Principal Support Engineer for MySQL Sveta Smirnova on Thurs, Dec 5th from 10 to 11 am PST to learn how MySQL query performance can be improved through the utilization of Developer and DevOps tools. In addition, you’ll learn troubleshooting techniques to help identify and solve query performance issues.

Have you heard about the USE Method (Utilization – Saturation – Errors), RED (Rate – Errors – Duration) or Golden Signals (Latency – Traffic – Errors – Saturations)?

In this presentation, we will talk briefly about these different-but-similar “focuses” and discuss how we can apply them to data infrastructure performance analysis troubleshooting and monitoring.

We will use MySQL as an example, but most of this talk applies to other database technologies as well.
