So how do you use MySQL Fabric to set up a Highly Available Server Farm? The last two postings in this series were on installing Fabric on a master and then setting up slaves. Now it is time to get get the Fabric Farm started.

The Fabric controller is node number 1 and the slaves are 10, 20, and 30 at IP 10.10.13.1, 10, 20, and 30 respectively. I am keeping with the last octet of the IP addresses for clarity. I am trying to recreate the Fabric Farm from this image.

On the 10, 20, and 30 systems we need to add the following to the mysld section of the my.cnf

I will be presenting MySQL Fabric to the Triangle MySQL User Group in Raleigh on February 11th and then I will be speaking the next day at Percona University. Part of my first talk will have a live demo. Most presenters dread live demos as anything that can go wrong usually does go wrong and in very spectacular fashion to ensure humiliation, disgrace, and well deserved scorn.

To add to the pressure is a new laptop that is so far reluctant to perform well during the first two presentations of this year. Hopefully third presentation is a charm.

This year’s MySQL Central at Oracle Open World was an exhilarating experience. In contrast to the previous year’s MySQL Connect events, MySQL have now got their own Central at the main Oracle Open World. In the previous years, we were always short on time and trying to get a lot of sessions into just two days was just to much. This time I could both present sessions, attend sessions by other users, and also to talk to people in the MySQL community: something that I really enjoy and also find very valuable to see where we should be heading.

This year, the “MySQL Fabric Team” representation on MySQL Central was me and Narayanan Venkateswaran, which is heading the sharding solution in MySQL Fabric. Together with the conference, we also released MySQL Fabric 1.5.2 as the GA release of MySQL Fabric 1.5 containing a few new features:
