Economy up or down, can open source come out on top?

We’ve written about how a bad economy is indeed good for open source software. Nasty Safari bug not fixed since December :(

Apple has had a nasty Safari bug since December which breaks SmugMug, Facebook, Gmail, and lots of US banks.
