Percona Live Europe Featured Talks: Visualize Your Data with Grafana Featuring Daniel Lee

Welcome to another post in our series of interview blogs for the upcoming Percona Live Europe 2017 in Dublin. This series highlights a number of talks that will be at the conference and gives a short preview of what attendees can expect to learn from the presenter.

This blog post is with Daniel Lee, a software developer at Grafana. His tutorial is Visualize Your Data With Grafana. MySQL and MongoDB Alerting with PMM and Grafana

This blog post contains step-by-step instructions for setting up alerting in Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM) using Grafana.

As a Solutions Engineer at Percona, I get to speak with a lot of the early adopters of Percona’s new PMM software. One of the frequent feature requests from them was the need for alerts at certain MySQL and MongoDB thresholds. Percona’s philosophy on alerting is that we don’t want to reinvent the wheel. We integrated Consul, Grafana and Prometheus into PMM because they are fantastic, free and open-source products. PMM packages them together in an easy to deploy and maintain format.

With the release of Grafana 4.0 came Alerting! The Grafana team excitedly shared this feature with its users (including Percona). Percona quickly followed suit by …

Graphing Amazon RDS MySQL Metrics with Prometheus & Grafana

Recently the mysql community got an awesome monitoring solution for mysql

with Prometheus & Grafana. The graphs are simply beautiful and really lively.

I started off with this nice post on the mysql performance blog  by Roman Vynar and got the solution up and running very easily.

You can actually monitor Amazon RDS instance with the same steps mentioned in the above post but with a few changes:

The monitoring framework consists of 4 components:

  1. Prometheus server on port 9090
  2. Grafana server on port 3000
  3. MySQL …

Graphing MySQL performance with Prometheus and Grafana

This post explains how you can quickly start using such trending tools as Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and graphing of MySQL and system performance.

I will try to keep this blog as short as possible, so you can quickly set things up before getting bored. I plan to cover the details in the next few posts. I am going to go through the installation process here in order to get some really useful and good-looking graphs in the end.

Overview

Prometheus is an open-source service monitoring system and time series database. In short, the quite efficient daemon scrapes metrics from remote machines using HTTP protocol and stores data in the local time-series database. Prometheus provides a simple web …
