Where in the world is Brian? (travel dates)

Saturday I will be at Camp SysAdmin Bay Lisa, Usenix, and of course Splunk.

Wednesday of next week I will be in Melbourne for the MySQL meetup.

The week after I will be at Australia's national Linux conference (which is actually in New Zealand)

On Tuesday the 31st I will be in Brisbane and attending the meetup there:
MySQL Users Group Brisbane (http://mysql.meetup.com/84/events/4811014/)

And somewhere else late that week but Groggy wasn't around to get me the information :)

I have Saturday night free in San Fran? Any thoughts on what I should go do?

Video of MySQL Backup Presentation by Sheeri Kritzer at Boston MySQL Meetup

Update: The video is up on Google. You'll likely have better luck pulling it down from there, our little server can't quite keep up if too many people request it.

Finished the video production for Sheeri's MySQL backup presentation. It's a biggy, over 500mb. I exported in H.264 and MPEG-4 Quicktime because there were reports of not being able to see the video. I've attempted to export at lower quality and didn't notice any significant change in filesize.

I'll put a link to the Google vidio when Sheeri gets it put up, because my guess is the Kruckenberg machine won't do so well with this.

Mail.app Trick

Sometimes apple gets things right.

Have someone send you three or four images. In the attachments list in Mail.app there is an option called "Slideshow".
Click it :)

...and sometimes they blow it. Like sticking spyware in iTunes or not learning how to do RSS well in their browser or say by not fixing iSync to work with most modern cell phones.

Or how about letting me put bookmarks in my mp3's in my ipod so that I can track where I was in a chapter?

Putting a real database engine behind Mail.app would be nice as well, because searching it is a major hassle.

The glow of the coolness of "Slideshow" slowly fades...

Mangoes are good

that is all.

err… okay, a bit more. Breakfast this morning consisted of doing the dishes (good first step), some toast with jam and vegemite and a mango. Yum. All the time listening to the recording of the company-wide conf call from the other day (2am was just a little bit late that night).

These conf calls are really good actually - being able to throw questions directly at the top (and have them answered) is a great thing. Also getting to know what is going on from a higher perspective is really valuable.
