MySQL Connect 2013: ps_tools

During my talk and hands on labs at MySQL Connect 2013 I used several views, functions, and procedures from ps_helper and ps_tools.

The slides from the two talks can be downloaded from Thanks For Attending MySQL Connect or from the MySQL Connect 2013 Content Catalogue.

You can read more about ps_helper on Mark Leith’s blog and you can download ps_helper from github.

Last Day of MySQL Connect 2013

Today is Tutorial Day at MySQL Connect 2013 and yesterday was a blur. The Replication Road Map session started my day and it covered the long term development goals for MySQL Replication as well as more information on the Fabric sharding tool. Joro presented an amazing session on new security features along with some great tips for DBAs. Sadly I had to miss the other sessions as there was a meeting of the MySQL Storage Engine Partners (thanks to all the attendees) and the Oracle User Groups. Like many of you, I will be spending time going through presentations online to catch up on the session I missed.

And please let us have any feedback on MySQL Connect 2013 that you may have as we are already looking at the 2014 show.

MySQL Connect Day 1

Day one of MySQL Connect day 1 was a great day of technical information.

Hands-On Lab

Tomas gave another stunning keynote that covered 5.6, 5.7 and covered new innovations like the Fabric sharding software.

I sat in on a hands-on session to learn the tricks of how to run explain on another process.

Davi from Linkedin gave an amazing talk on InnoDB internals that I missed due to being in a great session on Fabric.

The evening reception was a great chance to see old friends, make new ones, and enjoy the MySQL Community.

September: A busy month for MySQL events

Now with summer winding down and school back in session, we get into a very busy time with many great opportunities to discover more about MySQL with several excellent MySQL events.

At first I wanted to cover all autumn events here but if I did that this post would be far too long. So instead I’m focusing on a few wonderful MySQL events that I’m going to be involved with in September.

In a few short days we’re running Percona University at Washington, D.C. This free event on September 12 provides a great opportunity to learn about latest developments in the MySQL ecosystem as we at Percona see it. I personally will be speaking about …

Reestablishing a MySQL Tradition Revisited

Last may I wrote about Reestablishing a MySQL Tradition where we used to have shirts just for those who contributed code to MySQL. Unfortunately that tradition was not kept during various transitions. But Antony Curtis

This is Antony Curtis in the original Community Contributor shirt

impressed me at a conference with his shirt and so the Community Team started the process of getting shirts for our contributors. Today I am proud to announce the first shirt has been ordered and in the post to Antony.

So if you have contributed to MySQL, have an OCA on file, AND are going to be at …
