In just over two weeks, on Feb 2-3, FOSDEM 2019 will take place. As happens every year, the first weekend of February The University Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) opens the doors of campus Solbosch to the worldwide open source community. What started as a small gathering of open source hackers has now become one of the world’s largest open source community events with speakers from all over the globe. All major open source software vendors want to be there and you will find boots for every possible Linux distribution.

For the third year in a row now, Oracle is organizing a pre-FOSDEM MySQL day. As the name suggests, this event takes place the day before FOSDEM (Friday, Feb 1st). This day is loaded with content on MySQL 8.0. …

I am getting ready to hit the road for the first time in 2019.  And the first stop is Belgium.

PHP Benelux is the first stop January 25 & 26, 2019 in Antwerp.  This is my firs time to this show but I have heard others rave about it for years and I am looking for to this show.

Good news ! The MySQL, MariaDB & Friends Devroom has been accepted for FOSDEM’19 ‘s edition as announced earlier!

This event is a real success story for the MySQL ecosystem; the content, the speakers and the attendees are growing every year.

The first big change for this 2019 edition is that the MariaDB Foundation (Ian) is joining my efforts to build this Devroom. Don’t forget that FOSDEM takes place in Belgium, and our motto is “l’Union fait la Force” [“Unity is Strength”].

Percona Live Santa Clara 2018 update: tutorials have been announced. The committee rated over 300+ talks, and easily 70% of the schedule should go live next week as well. In practice, then, you should see about 50 talks announced next week. There’s been great competition: we only have 70 slots in total, so about 1 in 5 talks get picked — talk about a competitive ratio.
