If you’re still thinking about whether or not you should be attending the Percona Live MySQL Conference & Expo that starts on Monday 31st of March, here are 9 reasons (we are Severalnines after all) on why we’ll be there. May these help you positively in your decision making ;-)

1. The 2014 edition showcases the most promising program yet

Sounds like a cliché-reason to be listed here, but this year’s program is in fact quite diversified …

Now I’m back in the MySQL fold, I’ve got the opportunity to speak at Percona Live again. I’ve always enjoyed speaking at this conference (back when it was known by another name…), although I need to up my game and do the 6 talks I did back in 2009.

On the Tuesday afternoon, tutorials day, I’m running a half-day session with my replication colleague Linas Virbalas. This will be similar to the session I did at Percona Live London, and cover some of the more advanced content on replication, including, but not limited to:

  • Filters
  • JavaScript Filtering
  • Some fun and practical filters
  • Heterogeneous replication from MySQL out to MongoDB, Vertica, Oracle and Hadoop

I might even choose to demo …

My talk @ Percona Live 2014

Will be giving a lightning talk at Percona Live 2014 – santa clara :)

In the world of replication, The Binlog is every ones favorite.

But what about the Relay log, Don't you feel it can do more ?

Yes, It can. How about, if it can serve the purpose of the GTID

feature without GTID.

Percona Live London 2013 : My Chairman point of view!

I would like to write a short and dislocated post on my condition of Chairman of the PLUK this year. When I accepted this mission, I had no clue what was going to be my job and I have no regret about this decision.
Because it was a fantastic experience and a wonderful conference.

So, I would like to thanks Kortney and Percona again for trusting me.
My committee fellows, David, Todd, Kenny, Ben and Ivan for their involvement.
All those of you who have submitted talks and tutorials for their high level and quality.
And of course all the attendees, we have cooked up this conference for you, thank you for being there.

I jumped into this adventure with my beliefs and I wanted to do it as honestly as possible and as humbly as possible.
I attended all the last PLUK conferences and I quickly knew what I wanted for this new event.

My priority was to have …

Call for papers (with lightning talks): Percona Live MySQL Conference 2014

The call for participation for Percona Live MySQL Conference 2014 is still open. As part of the review committee, I will be looking at the proposals, and I hope to see many interesting ones.

There is a novelty in the submission form. In addition to tutorials and regular sessions, now you can submit proposals for lightning talks, to which I am particularly interested, as I have organized the lightning talks in the past two editions, and I am in charge to continue the tradition for the next one.

If you want to be a speaker at the conference, here are some tips to get your proposal accepted:

  • Propose a topic that you know well;
  • Take some time to write a well thought and meaningful proposal: nothing gets me faster to the rejection button than statements like “I want to talk about X, I will …

Severalnines at Percona Live London 2013: MySQL Cluster Performance Tuning, exhibitor space with live demos, discount code...

November 4, 2013 By Severalnines Percona Live London MySQL Conference - 11-12th November, 2013

We’re particularly excited about this year’s Percona Live London MySQL Conference. The line-up of speakers & topics looks excellent and it’s good to see speakers from Oracle, Percona, the MariaDB Foundation (amongst others) scheduled at the same event. It demonstrates not just the diversity of the ever broadening MySQL ecosystem, but also the fact that there really is room for everyone to contribute, participate in and advance MySQL in manifold directions while still retaining a certain amount of uniformity.

And this is how we will be contributing to the event ...

Percona Live London 2013: an insider’s view of the schedule

With the close of call for papers earlier this month, the Percona Live London conference committee was in full swing this past week reviewing all of the many submissions for November’s Percona Live London MySQL Conference.

The submissions are far ranging and cover some really interesting topics, making the lineup for Percona Live London really strong! What the committee looks for in a submission is how much “value” a talk will bring to the conference – this is to say it needs to be far more that a product demo. As such, real-world experiences are receiving much more favorable reviews, along with talks that cover methodologies the attendees will …

MySQL Conference and Expo 2013 feelings (#perconalive)

I wasn’t at the MySQL Conference this year but it was very nice to follow this event from Paris.
Of course I didn’t feel the general atmosphere by visiting booths or met fabulous people.
But it was a great opportunity to offer you a live post about the conference with an external point of view.

Twitter, RSS feeds (yes Google, I still use RSS), Planet MySQL and infiltrators were my best friends during this crazy week.

I would like to summarize the major announcements and events occurs during this tenth edition.

Oracle at Percona Live!

Yes, Oracle was at Percona Live 2013 and it was for the best.
I invite you to watch this keynote from …
