Tungsten-Replicator 2.1.1 with better installation and built-in security
+1 Vote Up -0Vote Down

UPDATE 2013-08-30: Tungsten 2.1.2 was released.

UPDATE 2013-08-23: We have found a few problems that happen when replicating with RBR and temporal columns. We will have to publish an updated bugfix release quite soon.

Tungsten Replicator 2.1.1 is out. Key features in this release are:

  • A better installer, of which we have already given a preview in tpm, the multi-master composer. The new installer allows faster and more powerful deployments of both single and multiple masters topologies. And it also allows the next feature:
  • Secured communication layer. Now the replicator data and

Welcome Tungsten Replicator 2.1.0!

Overview

First off, the important news. Tungsten Replicator 2.1.0 was released today.
You can download it and give it a try right now.

Second, I would say that I am quite surprised at how much we have done in this release. The previous release (2.0.7) was in February, which is just a few months ago, and yet it looks like ages when I see the list of improvements, new features and bug fixes in the Release Notes. I did not realized it until I ran my last batch of checks to test the upgrade from the previous release, which I hadn’t run for quite a long

Shard-Query 2.0 Beta 1 released
+4 Vote Up -0Vote Down

It is finally here.  After three years of development, the new version of Shard-Query is finally available for broad testing.

This new version of Shard-Query is vastly improved over previous versions in many ways.  This is in large part due to the fact that the previous version of Shard-Query (version 1.1) entered into production at a large company.  Their feedback during implementation was invaluable in building the new Shard-Query features.   The great thing is that this means that many of the new 2.0 features have already been tested in at least one production environment.

This post is intended to highlight the new features in Shard-Query 2.0.  I will be making posts about individual features as well as posting benchmark results.

Tungsten Replicator 2.0.6 released - Multi-Master replication made easy and more
+2 Vote Up -0Vote Down

Tungsten Replicator version 2.0.6 was released today.

You can get both the binaries and the source code at the project's downloads page.

This release contains many bug fixes, and various improvements. All of them are listed in the Release Notes. The most interesting ones are the improvement in multi-master topologies. Using this release with star topologies you will get less traffic than before, because we have reduced some duplication of transaction history logs that were sent between servers.

And speaking of multi-master topologies, this release includes the cookbook recipes mentioned in this blog

New Jenkins Bazaar plugin release! 1.18
+1 Vote Up -0Vote Down

From the desk of your new Bazaar plugin for Jenkins maintainer, I give you Version 1.18.

This release has two good bug fixes:

  • UI fix for checkout option (JENKINS-12261)
  • Auto-recover from corrupt BZR branches (e.g. bzr branch/checkout killed at inopportune moment) by cleaning the workspace and trying again (this is now default behaviour, best used with the Jenkins SCM retry count feature being > 1)

We’ve been running the same code as this release at Percona for about 2 months now (the second bugfix was one I wanted to test first before submitting upstream). This is the big fix that fixed all our problems with using bazaar with Jenkins in a large deployment.

What comes in between MariaDB now and MySQL 5.6?
+7 Vote Up -3Vote Down

We’re quite happy that we’ve released four major releases that are production ready (better known as generally available or GA in the MySQL world) in the last 26 months. That is just a little over two years, and a whole lot of features. In that same time, MySQL has seen one GA release (MySQL 5.5) and we’re all eagerly awaiting the upcoming MySQL 5.6.

You’ll note that we built MariaDB 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 based on the MySQL 5.1 codebase. A significant number of features went into MariaDB 5.3 (our biggest GA release to date), with the biggest changes in the optimizer in over a decade. There were also many
